Chainsaw scabbards are designed to carry a chainsaw attached to a western saddle on the off side of the horse. The front strap goes around the gullet, the back strap attaches to the back D-ring and a seperate strap loops over the saddle horn and is snapped closed around the handle of the chainsaw. We found that the chainsaw stays securely on the saddle and can still be accessed quickly. To counterbalance the weight of the saw it is best to also carry a riflescabbard attached on the left side of the saddle.
A good choice of leather is the heavy burgundy Latigo leather as it is forgiving with chainsaw oil and water. It can also be made in different colors to match a saddle. Included is a securely attached plastic chainguard to protect the leather, 3 straps and it can be made to accomodate up to 21" bar lengths. |
